Ben and Karen Janowski formed Diamond Vision Services in 1997 in response to the growing demand in the gem and jewelry industry for high quality digital imaging. The company acquired equipment and licenses from IBM on proprietary technology developed at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center. (See Technology). The company is a division of The Janos Group, Ltd.

Ben Janowski spent over 20 years in fine jewelry manufacturing. He held top sales, marketing and management positions at Diamond Company of America, Krementz & Co., and Feature Enterprises. Among his responsibilities over those years was the development of advanced computer applications relating to marketing, sales development and pricing systems. Ben is president of Janos Consultants, the other division of The Janos Group. Janos Consultants provides strategic business and marketing consulting services to the gem and jewelry industry. Karen Janowski, Vice President, comes from a jewelry family and was involved in many aspects of the day to day operations at Tishman and Lipp. That included product development, advertising, sales promotion, and customer service. Karen has been active in the industry for over 20 years. She spent five years selling quality precious and semi-precious colored single stones and received a Diamond Grading Certificate from the GIA. Karen has primary responsibility for operations at DVS.
